Enrichment

Enrichment is a valued and integral part of life at Fiddlers Lane Primary School and plays a vital role in supporting pupils’ personal development. Through a wide range of trips, clubs and hands‑on experiences, pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning beyond the classroom. These opportunities help children to build character, learn how to work with others, show respect, take responsibility and develop resilience in a supportive and nurturing environment. Our enrichment offer supports pupils’ wellbeing, character and preparation for life in modern Britain.

Enrichment is embedded across school life in a variety of ways:

  • Expert PE and Music teachers deliver high‑quality sessions across the school, enriching the curriculum and giving children access to specialist teaching.
  • Pupils support the local community, through activities such as litter picking, developing links with the local high school and library, or visiting a local elderly care home to read with residents.
  • Pupils support charities across the school year, creatively planning fund‑raising activities and learning about empathy and giving back.
  • Children access lunchtime clubs and after‑school provision, developing confidence, resilience and strong social skills.
  • Pupils take part in annual NSPCC assemblies, with additional sessions for Year 5 and Year 6 from external agencies supporting wellbeing, safety and positive relationships.

As well as our established clubs, we offer a wide range of engaging lunchtime activities to ensure every pupil has the opportunity to get involved, stay active and have fun. These include two lunchtime sessions led by a sports coach, exciting table tennis tournaments, an indoor games and arts club, and many other activities such as football, basketball, boules, target practice, French skipping, scooters and use of the outdoor gym. Our varied programme is designed to promote teamwork, creativity and wellbeing, while giving pupils the chance to try new interests and enjoy their lunchtime together.

Fiddlers Lane in the Community

Our school is proud to play an active and caring role within the local community. Pupils regularly visit Holly Court Residential Home to share stories and read with residents, and we love welcoming them into school to enjoy our performances. We support our wider community through donations to the local food bank and maintain strong links with our parish church, including visits from the local vicar to lead assemblies and support learning. Our partnership with ICA High School provides valuable enrichment opportunities and a smooth transition for our older pupils, while trips to the local library help nurture a lifelong love of reading. We also enjoy close connections with local sports clubs, giving children the chance to stay active and build confidence through a variety of activities.
