Values
R.E.A.D
At Fiddlers Lane, our core values are embodied in the word READ: Respect, Empathy, Ambition, and Determination. We believe that respect forms the foundation of a positive and inclusive community, where every individual is valued and differences are celebrated. Empathy guides our interactions, helping us to understand and support one another with kindness and compassion. Ambition inspires our pupils to set high goals and strive for excellence in all areas of their lives. Determination empowers everyone in our school to persevere through challenges, learn from setbacks, and achieve their personal best. Together, these values shape a nurturing environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

R is for Respect
Kindness and Good Manners
Respect means treating others with kindness and politeness. Simple actions, like saying please and thank you, show that we care about the people around us.
Listening and Valuing Everyone
When we show respect, we listen carefully, allow others to speak, and make sure everyone feels valued, included, and safe.
Looking After Our Environment
Respect also involves taking care of our school. This includes keeping our classrooms tidy, looking after equipment, and using resources responsibly.
Creating a Positive School Community
By practising respect every day, we help build a happy, welcoming, and friendly school environment where everyone can thrive.
E is for Empathy
Understanding Others
Empathy is the ability to notice, recognise, and understand how someone else may be feeling in different situations.
Choosing Kindness
When we show empathy, we respond with kindness. This might mean offering help, giving a comforting gesture, or simply being there when someone needs support.
Creating a Caring School Community
By practising empathy every day, we strengthen our friendships and help build a positive, supportive, and inclusive school environment where everyone feels valued.
A is for Aspirational
Being aspirational means having big ambitions and working with determination to achieve them. It is about believing in yourself and aiming high.
Setting and Achieving Goals
Being aspirational means that we set clear goals and put in consistent effort to reach them. We show resilience, stay focused, and keep going, even when things get challenging.
A Commitment to Lifelong Learning
Aspiring learners continue to grow by reading, exploring new ideas, and asking thoughtful questions. They are curious and always looking for ways to improve.
Belief in Personal Growth
When we believe in ourselves, we unlock new skills, explore our talents, and achieve things we never thought possible. Self-belief helps every child reach their full potential.
D is for Determination
Determination is the drive to keep going, even when things feel difficult. It’s about staying focused and not giving up when challenges appear.
Learning from Mistakes
Determined learners understand that mistakes are part of the learning journey. They use these moments to improve, keep practising, and try again until they succeed.
Determination in Everyday Life
We show determination when we complete a tricky puzzle, work through a challenging task, or practise a new skill a little each day.
Why Determination Matters
Being determined helps build confidence and inner strength. With persistence, we can achieve incredible things and reach our full potential.
